From the Guardian in Chief, Temple of the People: The Temple’s Response to Coronavirus

March 18, 2020

Dear Temple Members and Friends:

I have been trying to decide how to meet the coronavirus emergency rules and regulations in terms of Temple services and classes. In last night’s study class (with the members observing proper “social distancing”) we had a wonderful discussion about possibilities. In the final analysis, everyone must do what feels right for them. Trying to honor the spiritual and man-made laws I feel the Temple must take one step at a time. This is an opportunity to draw closer together on inner planes as we pray for all the best for everyone. The interesting fact is that we can do this drawing-together at the same time that we self-isolate to avoid contacting or spreading the virus. We are all one on inner planes and that is where we need to be working with the Light of God through prayer and meditation in situations like this pandemic.

To that end, Tuesday and Friday Study Classes are suspended until May 1 as I re-evaluate the situation. If all members and friends would sit down in prayer or meditation at 5:30pm on those days, asking that the Light of God be directed to those who need help at this time, think of the powerhouse of Divine Force that would be sent out! We will be investigating creative ways to share study material. Stay tuned!

The Healing Service at noon every day will continue. If you wish to attend, there is plenty of room to maintain good distance. For those who do not wish to attend, this is again a good time to get quiet and participate in sending out the Healing Forces of the White Lodge.

This Sunday’s service is cancelled, but I will be sending you Marti’s talk. Yet another time to  meet interiorly.

The Enter the Silence service on the last Sunday of the month will be held in our own homes. I will email you the service to enable you to get quiet at that time and connect with everyone on inner planes. As Carolyn Myss said so eloquently, “With God, all things are possible, even the unthinkable and unimaginable. And we are now living through the unfolding of unthinkable, unimaginable events and challenges.” We can help by going within to the White Light.

As far as guest accommodations here at the Center are concerned, Hiawatha Cottage will be occupied for the foreseeable  future. The Open Gate is closed until further notice. The apartment is also closed until further notice. The William Quan Judge Library will be closed until further notice.

May we walk fearlessly in Love, Light, Joy, and Peace.

An Update from the Guardian in Chief

March 19, 2020

Dear Ones:

I did say yesterday to stay tuned!

So in order to stay in compliance with the law of the land we need to add this to our planning:  “San Luis Obispo County Public Health officials announced an order Wednesday for all county residents to shelter in their homes. The shelter-at-home order goes into effect on Thursday, March 19 at 5 pm and will remain in place until April 17.  Officials add that the order will be reviewed every 14 days. County officials say this means all public gatherings outside of homes are strictly prohibited. Essential government operations and essential businesses will remain open, including grocery stores, gas stations, and banks.”

I must amend what I said yesterday: ”The Healing Service at noon every day will continue. If you wish to attend, there is plenty of room to maintain good distance. For those who do not wish to attend, this is again a good time to get quiet and participate in sending out the Healing Forces of the White Lodge.” Now I will say: The Healing Service at noon every day will continue. This is a time to get quiet and participate in sending out the Healing Forces of the White Lodge. Also the Meditation Service on the first Sunday evening is cancelled for April.

In the Rules of Discipleship it tells us: “The Higher Law will hold thee accountable for the breaking of every lesser law.”  Therefore The Temple will comply here on the physical plane. But, if we will observe the times of our services and study classes, we can meet interiorly, and through the power of our hearts and souls in prayer and meditation as a group we can help wield the tremendous power of the White Light.

Let us fearlessly stayed tuned in to each other, to the Forces of Love, Light, Joy, and Peace, to God.

The Temple of the People in Halcyon, California

The Temple, founded in November, 1898 in Syracuse, New York, moved to Halcyon, California, in 1903. The Halcyon community, clustered around the Blue Star Memorial Temple, is actively dedicated to living the Teachings of the Temple.

These Teachings endeavor to help us learn the ability to realize one’s human and divine form of life. The freedom which comes through such balance is attained when the desire, the wonder, and the love of learning the truths of our divine spiritual unity is balanced by continuous efforts to apply them to the realization of this unity in everyday affairs. The Temple Teachings, firmly rooted in Theosophy, are filled with practical directions which help us in all aspects of our lives.

The Temple of the People has always recognized the value, importance, and self-responsibility of each individual. Its reason for being rests on the inviolability of the Golden Rule. The foundation stones of the Temple are Religion, Science, and Economics: there can be no true religion without its scientific basis, and there can be no right system of economics not based on a science that is religious and a religion that is scientific. Therefore, these three aspects are all important.
