May Gathering of the Temple of the People

The International Gathering was held May 4-7, 2012, here at the Center. The theme for this event was “Harmony,” taken from the Master’s words, “Words of Harmony,” From the Mountain Top, Vol. 3, page 70, beginning with “Preserve Harmony in your own soul and it will flow out to all others, for it is more powerful than you understand and more far-reaching.”

FROM THE MASTER WITH LOVE

FROM THE MASTER WITH LOVE

 December 11, 2016

I am constantly amazed as I read from the various teachings we have in our bound Temple books.  I have lived most of my life with these books, read them, studied them, pondered the meaning of the lessons contained within.  Then I come across the same reading I have done in years past and suddenly it is all new.  Suddenly it reaches my consciousness in new and stunning ways. A Preamble to Convention 2016

A Talk Given in The Temple by,
Eleanor L. Shumway, Guardian in Chief

As a preamble to Convention 2016, I want to read portions of the Convention message of 1930, and follow that by a letter, written in September, 1930, by Dr. Little to Dr. Dower, then Guardian in Chief. (Dr. Little was a long time Temple member and priest, composer, singer, poet and dentist who always came to convention from the active Palo Alto Temple square.)  The Master’s message had struck a deep note for Dr. Little and he is sharing how it affected his life and consciousness. THE POWER OF WORDS

A Talk Given in The Temple by,

Eleanor L. Shumway, Guardian in Chief,  on  November 8, 2015

I have spoken before about The Healing Meditation and The Words of Force.  We hear them so often that I think we need to examine them at regular intervals, putting the Light of consciousness on them, each time investing these powerful tools with new awareness of their authority and majesty. There are Temple Hands

A Talk Given in The Temple by,
Eleanor L. Shumway, Guardian in Chief,  on
August 16, 2015

In Vol. III of From The Mountain Top, we read these words from the Master:

“To my Temple Children: My eyes are resting today on those Temple hands which have taken up many burdens of the world as fast as they fell from other hands now visible to outer eyes only as tiny pinches of dust, and upon other hands idly clasped or selfishly engaged in ministering to the senses alone. WHAT WILL WE DO?

A Talk Given in The Temple by,
Eleanor L. Shumway, Guardian in Chief,
May 17, 2015

Never be afraid to try something new.
Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark.
A large group of professionals built the Titanic.

I want to begin with this story:

The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn’t already know. I stood up to look around; then a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned around to find a wrinkled little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being. Continue reading

Begin Anew

A Talk Given in The Temple by,  Eleanor L. Shumway, Guardian in Chief,

April 12, 2015

The lessons in The Teachings of the Temple are given to us by the Masters in many guises. Some are presentations of great truths, others are expressions of Their love for humanity, and still others are filled with metaphor and poetic expression as a means of showing what must be done by each of us to take the next step in our unfoldment.  Resurrection

Compiled from Temple Teachings
by Annegret Liebig, April 2015

Dear Temple-Sisters and -Brothers, dear Friends,

Easter-time is near and we open our hearts with delight to the softness and beauty of the shooting buds of the trees and bushes. We decorate our windowsills with the first hyacinths and tulips. The birds are singing cheerfully. The sun warms our body and soul, and we turn our attention to the happening of the resurrection that the nature shows us symbolical because we celebrate at this time of year the resurrection of the Lord, the victory of light over darkness. TOOLS OF THE TRADE

A Talk Given in The Temple by,  Eleanor L. Shumway, Guardian in Chief,

February 8, 2015

Here we are in a brand new year, encountering the same old problems, and yet, we are always asking for new directions, new words, new resolutions, new interpretations, new, new, new.  We are really sold on “NEW IS BETTER.” We don’t want to hear the old stuff over and over.  There must be some new magic, easy insight.  And we want it now, not realizing that we have all the tools needed for spiritual growth, and that we have them now! YOU ARE ALL INVITED TO A BANQUET

A Talk Given in The Temple by,  Eleanor L. Shumway, Guardian in Chief,

December 14, 2014

The Master’s Message to the Convention of 2000 spoke of these truths:

“My Beloved Children:

“I bring special greetings as you assemble in convention.  We who labor on the inner planes are with you at this time. Your work, our work, cannot be separated by time or space.  To advance Our work of the uplifting of all created consciousness, you must accomplish your own work.  Do you realize your responsibility?  Do you recognize your privilege?  I have told you again and yet again you have been given the Charge and the Trust that through you is made the possibility of carrying the Light of the New Day into the darkness of a suffering world. A Challenge 11-9-2014

A Talk Given in The Temple by,  Eleanor L. Shumway, Guardian in Chief,

November 9, 2014

In six days we will celebrate the anniversary of the founding of The Temple in Syracuse, New York.  The Master tells us it took many incarnations to gather together in one place the particular souls necessary to commence the work, which was, and still is, the 24/7 living of the Golden Rule.  In 1903, He directed Dr. Dower and Francia LaDue to move the headquarters to a selected spot on the West Coast, Halcyon, where the community could develop into a model of community living.  Temple members have been striving toward that goal ever since.
